Cloud storage requires an Arlo Secure subscription on nearly every current model — plans have run from roughly $10/month per camera up to around $20/month for an unlimited-camera plan. A handful of models support local storage to a USB drive or microSD card via an add-on SmartHub, but most buyers end up on a subscription.

Where the "no cloud" claim needs a caveat
The core camera-to-viewer connection never touches a server. But the optional away-from-home alerts feature — off by default — does use minimal server infrastructure to deliver short, capped clips when you're away from your home network. We think "no account, no ongoing surveillance, no subscription" is the more accurate framing than a blanket "no server," and we'd rather be precise about that distinction than let a headline claim overstate it.

Can any of these cameras work without an account?
