Effective July 15, 2026
Offgrid Studio builds iOS apps — including OffgridVox, OffgridStem, and OffgridScribe — on a simple principle: your data stays on your device. We don't run servers that store your content, we don't track your activity, and we don't sell or share your information, because we never collect it in the first place.
What we collect
Nothing. Specifically, our apps do not collect, transmit, or store:
- Your photos, audio recordings, documents, or notes
- Analytics, usage statistics, or crash data sent to us
- Advertising identifiers or tracking data
- Account information — our apps don't require sign-in or an account
All processing — transcription, noise reduction, stem separation, note storage — happens locally on your device, using on-device frameworks. Nothing is uploaded to us or to any third party as part of that processing.
Third parties
We do not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. If you make a purchase through the App Store, that transaction is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy — we don't receive your payment details.
Data storage
Any content you create or import stays in local storage on your device, protected by iOS's standard on-device encryption. Uninstalling an app removes its local data along with it. We have no server infrastructure that holds a copy.
How these claims are verified
These privacy claims are based on how our apps are built — they don't include the networking code needed to send your content anywhere. This is a design choice, not a third-party certification. We have not undergone an independent audit (e.g. SOC 2) or a formal compliance certification (e.g. HIPAA). If you work in a regulated profession and need certified compliance guarantees, please do your own diligence before relying on our apps for that purpose.
In the interest of transparency, we ran our own network-traffic tests in August 2026 using Proxyman, a traffic inspection tool, on a physical iPhone. This was self-conducted, not an independent third-party audit — we're sharing the raw results so you can judge for yourself, and we plan to pursue a proper independent audit as the studio grows.
We ran the app through its full workflow — selecting a track, separating stems, exporting, and reviewing history — while monitoring all outbound network traffic.
Result: no connections originating from OffgridStem were observed. The only traffic captured was a single background connection to Apple's own App Store API (amp-api-edge.apps.apple.com), unrelated to the app and blocked by Apple's own certificate pinning.
OffgridScribe uses WhisperKit, an open-source on-device speech recognition engine. The only outbound activity we observed was a one-time download of the transcription model itself (Whisper, small.en, via Hugging Face) on first use — the AI model, not your data.
Result: after that initial model download, transcription runs entirely on-device. No recordings, transcripts, or other content were observed leaving the device during testing.
Children's privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and since we don't collect data from any user, we don't knowingly or unknowingly collect personal information from children either.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and post the revised version on this page. Since we don't collect contact information from users, we're unable to notify you directly — please check back periodically.
